The author of the book, education strategist Monica R. Martinez and sociologist Dennis McGrath proposed that the goal of deep learning is to develop “the ability to learn to learn.” It is believed that the process of deep learning not only enables students to master the content of the course, but also cultivates critical thinking and the ability to solve complex problems, cultivates the ability of cooperation and effective communication, and makes students become independent learners with the spirit of inquiry. Based on the case of eight public high schools in the United States, this book describes six core strategies for “deep learning”.
